In Wilton, police report that during the overnight overs on Saturday, Jan. 5, and Sunday, Jan., 6, someone forced entry into the collection box located on the property of the Wilton Post Office at 15 Hubbard Road.
Similar activity was also reported in the Town of Weston with three USPS mailboxes located in the Weston Center were forcefully pried open and the contents removed on the same dates.
Two of the mailboxes are located outside of the Post Office and the third is located between Weston Road and Camelot Real Estate.
The crime of mail theft from residential mailboxes and public USPS Collection Boxes continues to trend, police said.
Any residents that recently used any of those boxes and believe their mail was stolen should report it to their local police department.
Police are also advising that residents walk inside their local post office and use the indoor mail slot to deposit mail.
